Conley, Gary

Gary D. Conley is CEO and Chairman of SolFocus, Inc., which he co-founded in November 2005 to commercialize the concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) technology developed initially through his renewables research company H2Go. Since founding SolFocus in late 2005, Mr. Conley has led the company through funding of over $95million and grown the organization to over 130 employees globally. Mr. Conley is also Chairman of SolFocus Europe Inc., which was founded in 2007 to capitalize on the outstanding opportunities of the European markets. Prior to SolFocus, Mr. Conley was CEO of GuideTech, a leading edge developer of advanced high speed timing interval analyzers. The board of GuideTech called upon Mr. Conley to turn the company about. In his first five months at GuideTech he stabilized and turned a $13M investment and four years of losses into four consecutive profitable months. This was accomplished by a major reorganization, employee training, regaining customer confidence, and an aggressive R&D program was begun after recruitment of top technical staff. Prior to GuideTech, Mr. Conley began angel/mezzanine financing of advanced technology start-ups. He has actively managed investments through strategic planning, mentoring, and leveraging the capabilities in others. Mr. Conley raised $600K in angel financing, grew revenues and won $3M VC funding for FlyteComm, a real-time flight intelligence provider. He was Senior Vice President at Credence Corporation, VP Sales/Marketing and then CEO at EPRO, and was co-founder of a Singapore based semiconductor equipment distributor Engage Electronics. In November 2005 Mr. Conley was awarded the 2005 Clean Energy Entrepreneur of the Year Award at NREL’s 18th Industry Growth Forum and in 2008 received the Best Clean Technologies Investment Award at the World Investment Conference. He is a member of SolFocus, SolFocus Europe, H2Go, Glacier Bay Inc., AOTest and Microfield (MICG) Boards of Directors. He is an IFR qualified private pilot, and member of IEEE, AIAA, and SPIE.
